IFC nets US rights to Andrea Arnold's Cannes honouree FISH TANK

IFC Films has acquired US rights to Andrea Arnold’s second feature Fish Tank following its world premiere in Cannes where it shared the special jury prize.

The film stars British newcomer Kate Jarvis, who was singled out by some critics as the discovery of the festival for her portrayal of a 15-year-old loner whose mother brings home a stranger who promises to transform their lives.

Michael Fassbender, who appears in the upcoming Inglourious Basterds, also stars alongside Kierston Wareing, Harry Treadaway, and 12-year old newcomer Rebecca Griffiths.

The BBC Films and UK Film Council presentation in association with Limelight was produced by Kees Kasander and Nick Laws. Paul Trijbits, Christine Langan and David Thompson serve as executive producers.

IFC’s vice-president of acquisitions Arianna Bocco brokered the deal with UTA and Jamie Carmichael of ContentFilm International. Arnold is represented by Matthew Bates at Sayle Screen Ltd in the UK and Gersh in the US.

IFC Films will release through its IFC In Theaters theatrical and VOD day-and-date platform.
