Sundance has added the world premiere of Jim Strouse's comedy The Winning Season starring Sam Rockwell as a misfit brought in to coach his local girls high school basketball team.

Emma Roberts, Rob Corddry, Shareeka Epps and Emily Rios also star in the film, which will play out of competition and premieres on January 19.

Strouse is no stranger to Sundance, having previously directed Grace is Gone. "We are thrilled to welcome back to the festival Jim Strouse who once again displays his talent for storytelling in this superbly witty film," festival director Geoff Gilmore said. "The Winning Season is a completely gratifying cinematic drama marked by sharp dialogue and perfectly toned performances."

Sundance is set to run from January 15-25.
