Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions Group has picked up rights to "Outpost" for a series of territories, most of them English-speaking. Sony will distribute the ContentFilms thriller in the U.S., U.K., Canada, Australia and New Zealand, in addition to South Africa, Greece and Israel.

Story follows mercenaries in war-torn Eastern Europe who discover a secret in a former military bunker. Pic stars Ray Stevenson ("Rome").

"Outpost" is produced by Black Camel Pictures and Cinema One with Matador Pictures and Regent Capital. Arabella Page Croft and Kieran Parker of Black Camel produced, and Nigel Thomas of Cinema One exec produced.

Sony's acquisition arm has been on a buying binge lately. It gobbled up rights to a series of pics at Cannes, including "The Long Good Friday," "We Own the Night," "88 Minutes" and "Legion."
