Following its spectacular reception at the 2005 Tribeca Film Festival, this extraordinary road-trip-comedy tells the story of Bree (FELICITY HUFFMAN), a prim, prudish and persnickety male-to-female transsexual, who, after years of saving money, is only a week away from her final SEXUAL-REASSIGNMENT SURGERY. When an unexpected call comes from a teenager incarcerated in a New York jail, Bree learns to her dismay that a fumbling sexual encounter 17 years before (when she was a he) resulted in the birth of a son. Though Bree wants nothing to do with the teenage runaway, her therapist (ELIZABETH PENA) tells her she must face HER PAST before she'll authorize Bree's surgery. Bree reluctantly journeys to New York and bails her wild son Toby (KEVIN ZEGERS) out of jail - but without revealing to him her true identity. When she learns that Toby plans to skip bail and search for his real father, Bree panics - and finds herself setting out on A REMARKABLE cross-country journey. |
